Pigeon Goes to Camp

Pine Cove here we come! Pigeon thought it would be fun to tag-a-long with Claire and Anna when they went to Pine Cove camp in East Texas. It sure was hot, but they had a great time!

Pigeon was excited to visit the stables but was a little too scared to actually go on a horseback ride.

Pigeon discovered that he really likes to play tetherball.

Here he is hanging out with Pappy, the director of Pine Cove. Pappy had never heard of Pigeon, can you believe that?

Here Pigeon is about to take a dip in the lake.

Lastly, here Pigeon is in front of his cabin. He learned a lot at Pine Cove and made many good friends. Now that the summer is almost over, he is looking forward to coming back to school and seeing all of his Taylor friends. He would love to know what you've been up to this summer! Remember, if you took a picture of yourself reading over the summer, please bring it with you when you come back to school. Pigeon and I can't wait to see them!

Pigeon Wants to go Back to Hawaii

Pigeon just got back from a vacation to Hawaii. He loved it very much and really wants to go back! Here he is inside of a submarine in Pearl Harbor...
Pigeon loves to read and knows you can learn a lot from books! Here he is reading up on his Hawaiin cousins... Remember to please bring me a picture of yourself reading over the summer. I will be creating a display with these photos. Can you guess whose picture will be in the display?

One of the most memorable places that pigeon visited was Pearl Harbor. We have many books about the attack on Pearl Harbor in the Taylor library. One of the very special things we were able to do while on Maui was take a snorkeling trip. Pigeon really wanted to drive the boat, and we let him with a little help from Anna. Here they are driving a boat to Molokini off the coast of Maui.

Pigeon had an amazing vacation! Have you gone anywhere special this summer? I hope you're having a wonderul time and I can't wait to see you all in August.

Summer Fun

Pigeon will be coming home with me over the summer and we are planning to have lots of fun! Please check my blog over the summer for updates on pigeon and what he's up to. He may turn up in some exciting places!

Also, I want all of you to take pictures of yourselves reading over the summer. You can be reading on vacation or at the park down the street. Have your parents email me a picture, or bring one in at the beginning of school and I'll display them in the library and on my blog. It will be fun to see all of the places Taylor students are reading over the summer!

Pumpkin Time!

I love it when thid grade brings down their pumpkin pal projects to display in the library. Aren't they fantastic! Every student in third grade designs and creates a pumpkin to look like a character from a book that they've read.

Read Like A Rock Star

To go along with our new school theme, our library theme for this year is "Read Like A Rock Star." How do you like our "rock band?"
Here are some examples of the cute book displays that Mrs. Goralczyk made:
They are so funny and the books get checked out constantly. Then we just put a new one on the display.

Bookmarks

As a librarian I have learned that (almost) anything can become a bookmark. Here laminated strips (scraps from the office) became bookmarks worth fighting over after we stuck an animal sticker at the top of each of them.
