Author and illustrator Grace Lin visited our school on Monday, March 23. Her first session was with K, 1st and 2nd grades and she read her cute book
The Ugly Vegetables. She explained how the book was based on experiences that she had while she was growing up. Then she drew several large picures of a dog, a monkey, and a giraffe.
Her next session was for 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. Ms. Lin explained the process that she goes through to have one of her books published. There are many different people she works with such as an editor, art director, designer, and printer. She called students up to help her explain the role that each of these people play in the publishing process. After this Ms. Lin taught all of the students how to draw a dog like to one on the cover of her book
How to Draw a Dog. She also told us about her new book
Where the Mountain Meets the Moon that will be coming out this summer. Look for it next fall in the Taylor library!
