Bluebonnet Parties
We held our Bluebonnet parties in the library this week. All students who read a t least five Bluebonnet books were invited to join us. The winning Bluebonnet book for the state of Texas this year was Help Me, Mr. Mutt! by Susan Stevens Crummell, so our party had a dog theme.
Students had bluebonnets painted on their faces.
We had a "How many dog bones in the bowl?" estimation contest. The winners from each grade level won a free book. If you're curious, there were 134 bones in the bowl.

Each student was able to choose a free book.
Blue donuts and punch were enjoyed by everyone!
We played "Throw the dog bone in the bowl" with the winners choosing another free book.
We also played "Hot dog" where students passed a stuffed dog and tried not to be the one holding it when the music stopped. The winners of this game also received another free book.

The Book Fair is here! Classes begin previewing today, and will continue through Tuesday. The Book Fair will be open on Monday, February 22 from 7:30 - 3:30. Our family night event will be Monday night from 6:30 - 8:00. You are invited to attend Taylor's first annual Creative Art Night, and shop the Book Fair while you're here. Tuesday, February 23 - Thursday, February 25 the Book Fair will be open from 7:30 - 4:00. On Friday the Book Fair will be open from 7:30 - 1:00. On Tuesday through Friday parents are invited to come eat lunch with their child and shop the Book Fair together.

Librarian for a Day
Kyle was the winner of the "Librarian for a Day" auction at the PTA dance and auction. He spent the day with us in the library and we had a great time! He helped us out tremendously with the Bluebonnet parties.
President Research
Third grade visited the library last week to conduct research about a president of the United States. Each student was able to choose a different president and read books to learn about their president.Snowy Day

I was fortunate to be able to hear Susan Stevens Crummel speak at the Early Childhood Center yesterday. She was very entertaining and the kids loved her! She is the author of many books in the Taylor library including Help Me, Mr. Mutt!Monday, February 8, 2010
Forest Animal Research
Second grade visited the library last week to conduct forest animal research. Each student had a different animal that they researched. They learned facts about their animal such as the animal's habitat, adaptations, size, and diet. After two days in the library they were going to continue their research in the computer lab.
