We have been reading Lissy's Friends by Grace Lin this week in preparation for her visit on March 23rd. After hearing the story about a girl who uses origami to "make" friends, students had fun "making" their own friends.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
Last week Kindergarten through fifth grade celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday in the library. Together we read lots of Dr. Seuss books and learned some little known facts about one of our favorite authors.
The Cat in the Hat puzzle was a popular stop after students had checked out their books. Students also had the opportunity to visit a fun Dr. Seuss website: http://www.seussville.com/

Grace Lin is Coming!

Arctic Animal Research
Third grade came to the library all week for arctic animal research. Students worked their way through four stations plus two tables of extension activities. Students made a map showing where different types of penguins live, graphed the heights of different types of penguins, created an arctic animal food chain, and labeled the parts of an Emperor penguin. There was one activity that was by far the favorite of everyone: making a life sized penguin.
